Believe it or not — the US is not the worst globally for new covid deaths per capita

I’ve been so focused on the US for so long that I surprised myself when looking at the current global hotspots for the per capita fatalities over the past 7 days. Czechia is #1 and UK is #2. UK fatality rate is up 45% in the past week.

The US is in 9th position on a per capita basis — but is number 1 for actual numbers of deaths. The current average is 3,200 deaths per day over the past week.

That’s very telling for what is surely a pandemic for the new strain on COVID.

The US has recorded over 22m cases of COVID. But look at India — 10.5 million cases — but on a population of 1.3bn people — over 4x the population of the US.
